COVID-19 POLICIES

The SPACE is committed to keeping our students and staff safe during the pandemic. Class sizes are limited to 12 students + staff and we will continue to encourage social distancing in the studio. Everyone is encouraged to wash their hands and/or use hand sanitizer upon arrival. Linette continues to stay up to date on public health measures needed to help keep everyone safe in the studio.

SELF HEALTH ASSESSMENTS
Before arriving at the studio, please assess how you’re feeling at home. If you are not feeling well, please stay home, and follow Toronto Public Health guidelines before returning to the studio.

SOCIAL DISTANCING IN THE STUDIO
Everyone is encouraged to wash or sanitize their hands upon arrival at the studio, and to maintain social distancing. To maintain distancing downstairs, please arrive at the studio dressed for class, and ideally bring only your water bottle and dance shoes to class.

PICK UP & DROP OFF
Weather permitting, our front door will remain open to increase airflow and ventilation, and decrease the risk associated with enclosed spaces. A barrier will be placed in the entrance to the lobby, as our lobby remains closed. Parents are asked to wait outside for pick up and drop off. Dismissal will be coordinated to avoid crowding in the lobby.

INCREASED CLEANING
High touch surfaces like ballet barres, hand rails, doorknobs, and light switches are sanitized frequently each day.

MASK POLICY
Everyone coming into the studio needs to wear a properly fitted mask that covers the nose, mouth, and chin and remain masked at all times in the studio, including during dance classes.  Students who require a mask break may step into the lobby away from everyone else to remove their mask temporarily before replacing their mask and returning to class. Staff will all wear a mask and/or a face shield while teaching; in the event that a face covering must be removed in order to demonstrate correct technique, it will be replaced as soon as possible, and social distancing will be maintained throughout the demonstration.

VIRTUAL CLASSES
We have Zoom class options for anyone who prefers to stay at home, isn’t feeling well, or needs to be at home because they may have been exposed to COVID-19.  All classes will be conducted virtually if government restrictions prohibit in person classes at the studio.

ORDERING DANCEWEAR
We encourage students to book an individual fitting time if you need shoes or dancewear for class so that we can avoid group fittings during class time. To limit the number of people coming into the studio, only one parent or guardian should accompany their child to a fitting. Please wear close fitting clothing similar to dancewear so we can get the most accurate measurements – a leotard and leggings or a bathing suit and bike shorts work well. In order to fit students properly, it may not be possible to maintain social distancing at all times. Parents and guardians will be asked to measure their child wherever possible, and our staff will help guide you through the process. If our staff need to be close to take or check measurements, we will do our best to keep touching to a minimum and be as brief as possible.

If you have any questions about our COVID-19 policies, or anything else at The SPACE, please email me at linette@the-space.ca for more information. We look forward to seeing everyone safely back in the studio!
