Musical Theatre Class<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Creativity blossoms in this environment! This class allows students to develop their talents as singers, dancers, and actors through its equal focus on each of these three important disciplines of musical theatre. One of the best ways to learn is by doing, and in this class the emphasis is on the excitement of combining all these elements to create excerpts from Broadway style shows. The class is divided into three half hour segments. The acting portion of the class uses drama games, improvisation, and scene work as students learn to work with scripted material. In vocal classes, students learn some basic music theory, and technique, and the group dynamic provides the opportunity to work on harmonies and choral music as well. During the dance segment, we focus on choreography, and students will learn movement for the stage as well as some jazz style basics as we put the show together. During casting, students are each given a part that highlights their strengths. Performances take place in class in late October\/early November, and at the Christmas show for Term I, with a second in class performance before March Break, and Term II culminating with the final year end show in June. Like to perform? Then this class is for you! For the serious musical theatre student with aspirations of performing, as well as for those interested in trying a variety of classes. Also recommended for dance students interested in pursuing music theatre style dance. Ages 6 and up. Beginner classes are for ages 6 \u2013 8, Junior classes are for 9 \u2013 11 year olds, and Elementary classes are for those 12 and up.\u00a0 Senior classes for students 12 and up with sufficient prior experience.\u00a0Adult Musical Theatre is an open\u2013level class for adults of all ages and levels of experience.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Individual Vocal Classes<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Dance Classes<\/a>\u00a0are also offered for those who wish to work on specific technique, with\u00a0<\/span>Jazz\/Hip Hop<\/a>\u00a0being an excellent choice for Musical Theatre students.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

1. Our season runs from September to June, and is divided into two terms; students registered for the full season have priority over new students for placement in Term II.
2. Classes are limited to 12 students, and may be combined or cancelled due to insufficient registration.
3. We have two shows \u2013 a small Christmas show, and a full scale show in June. Additional costume fees are required for the June show, and there is a charge for tickets. We also arrange for professional photos to be purchased, if desired.
4. A non-refundable registration fee of $30 is required to reserve placement. All fees (including post dated cheques) must be received with registration. Additional payment plans are subject to an administrative fee of $20. A $45 charge will be added to any NSF cheque, and a late charge of $20 per month will be added to unpaid balances. Receipts are issued at the beginning of each term; there is a $20 administrative fee should you require an additional copy.
5. Full refunds of unused class fees will be issued up until the 3rd class of the term. There will be no refunds after the 4th class, or for classes missed due to lateness, absence, or being unable to participate in class for any reason.
6. Our staff is made up of working industry professionals. We may schedule make up classes or substitute teachers if staff members are absent due to professional obligations.
7. We do not schedule make up classes for scheduled studio closures or student absences. Please inform teachers in advance of lateness or absence, when possible.
8. Everyone is expected to be on time and follow the Dress Code, which helps ensure everyone\u2019s safety. Those who are late or unprepared may be asked to observe class only.<\/p><\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

ALL Classes:<\/u><\/b> Hair must be tied back off the face and neck, and jewellery removed. No jeans (as they restrict movement), oversized clothing (since we must see the body to ensure proper technique), or street shoes may be worn in class. Gum, food, and drinks are not permitted in the studios (water bottles only).<\/p>

Ballet:<\/u><\/b> Girls \u2013 black leotard, pink tights, soft pink ballet slippers (teacher will advise if pointe shoes are required). Please secure hair in a bun. Boys \u2013 white T\u2013shirt, black fitted dance pants\/bike shorts, soft black ballet shoes.<\/p>

Jazz\/Hip Hop and Musical Theatre:<\/u><\/b> Leotard or fitted T\u2013shirt, dance pants or sweat pants. Black jazz slippers or dance sneakers.<\/p>
