Linette encourages students to develop strong technique and performance skills along with a genuine love for dance and the arts, and opened The S.P.A.C.E. in 2004 for students to learn from industry professionals in a warm and supportive atmosphere.
Linette played the lead in the film One Heart Broken Into Song, and has had the opportunity to work with tap legends such as Savion Glover and the late Gregory Hines, playing “Elaine” opposite Gregory Hines in Bojangles. Linette was also featured in Doc, Soul Food (for Showtime), and the film Blue Hill Ave, which won audience favourite at the Acapulco Black Film Festival. She is a talented and versatile performer who has performed on film and television; on stage; on the radio – notably as the lead in the CBC Radio production of Rush Home Road; and on the Original Cast Recording of We Will Not Forget. It is this experience that she offers to families in East York – the chance to learn about the world of performing from actual working performers.
As a professional actor, dancer, and singer, Linette has toured across Ontario with both Ballet Creole and Kalimba Kalimba. She was the choreographer for After Hours on CTV, and performed at the prestigious Charlottetown Festival. Students may recognize Linette as “Dana” the dance teacher and choreographer in Disney’s popular Cheetah Girls movie.
An energetic and enthusiastic teacher experienced with both children and adults, Linette has taught at numerous dance studios and schools, and continues to be in demand as a guest teacher. She also continues to perform professionally, acting as dance captain on Menopause The Musical 2, and appearing in 13 The Musical on Netflix, as well as episodes of Kim’s Convenience and Murdoch Mysteries.
